The other morning littleb stopped me on the stairs. “Mom, what’s this on my stomach? “, he asked, pulling up his shirt.
“What’s what?” I asked?
“That”, he said, pointing at an indentation near his rib cage.
“Oh. That’s an ab”, I said.
“I THOUGHT so!”, he beamed. Then he ran upstairs to show his Dad his new ab.
Cut to later that morning, littleb, Mac and I met a friend and her two little girls for a hike at Breakheart Pond in Exeter. Kara and I have been friends and former colleagues for years, but the kids had never met. Introductions were made and we started walking. Kara was in the back with littleb and she was asking him about himself-how old he was, what he likes to do, etc., and he told her he was nine, plays all sports, but likes basketball the best, and he has an ab.
The kid lights up my world. I’m going to have to come up with a new moniker for him, though, because “littleb” doesn’t seem right for a boy with an ab.
Here are some pics from the hike.
Have a good week, Everyone!
Chicken out
How sweet. Your title is even better.

Littleb is awesome and those girls are so cute! Having an ab is a huge deal. I haven’t seen mine in decades.

I’m guessing “Lil’ Abner” probably wouldn’t fly?

Damn. Here it is mid-October, and I just read the post again and immediately thought Lil Abner….should have known you had already gone there:-).

Sorry for the late response, G-uno-but I was just thinking, Lil Ab-her, and then I saw your “Little Ab” and then, did you also write “Ab-uno”? Because I thought I saw that but my comment section is all messed up on i-pad/wordpress, plus, you know, I’m old and technology deflates me a little, but I thought I saw that. If I didn’t, I intuited it. I do have good intuition.

Intuition is spot on! No apologies ever needed here. 🙂 We do what we can when we can. Plus it’s always so great to hear from you. G-uno

Thanks SAW. Rosie looks a little skeptical and Mac is doing her thing out loud. They are so sweet and funny. It’s a great age. And 9 is also fun. Actually, all the ages are fun, now that I think back, but I have to admit, 2-4 is my favorite. You never know what’s about to happen. I think the 90s might be the same.

LOL! How about calling him One Pack? (instead of 6 pack?) I didn’t remember you had a child the same age as me. My Hannah is 9 going on 40 the poor dear.

Yup. That sounds about right. One of us needs to do a post about Rainbow Children-a phrase I’ve been hearing from my newer age friends.
